Snow and More Snow!

  Tis is snowy winter here and I am feeling the urge to put my thoughts to page once again.  We lost my dear stepdad a few weeks ago after devoting the past year to caring for him.  It will take some time to find a new way without him.    Matt was especially devoted to him, and caring for Tom gave him a strong sense of self worth.   My mom is so lost right now and I am thankful to live next door.  I am just heartbroken in so many ways.  I think with age, change comes harder....   After a lot of sleepless nights weighing the prospect of how to move forward, we have both come to the conclusion that some changes are in order at this time.  I am removing some major stressors from my daily life.   We will be working more on the website, and patterns, and online venues.    I will still do my favorite shows.... Deerfield, Walker Homestead, and Wethersfield have been very dear to our hearts.  We find comfort in our show people and our customers alike.  But I must also keep my mom foremost.... she has had a rough year and needs us now more than ever.    I am working on goods for Deerfield Spring Sampler.... so looking forward to it.  Sadly I lost one of my favorite customers a short time ago.  She was a remarkable woman, with great grace and glee despite her illness.  Every show she came to she would shriek with joy, and grab me and give me the biggest bear hug.   I will miss that.      But.... it gave me a bit of solace to think that perhaps when Tom passed, that she was grabbing him, and greeting him, and dancing, and saying " I know Denise too".

A Mother's Work is NEVER Done!

Wow has it been that long since I've blogged..... No wonder it looks different that it did last time.  It seems like either NOTHING is going on here, or EVERYTHING all at once. 

I had the Deerfield Spring Sampler in early March, which was very early for the show, and we had to work hard to be ready. 

 

and since then I have been loading up my space at Teaberry Treasures.... we are working on many new things all the time.  I love being in the shop, and if you're ever heading up through Enfield on Rt 190, be sure to stop by..... it's in a quaint little ancient hotel in the heart of the Hazardville Historic District. I love being surrounded by all handmade, no China crap here!!! 

 

and then, we are working outside, getting the gardens ready for planting and fixing up the birdhouses and decorating the gardens.  This time of year is pure heaven...

 

 

I'm not sure why I thought it was a good idea, but I didn't care for this dolly, and set her on my back porch potting bench.   This little momma bird has been yanking on her hair for days and days... I guess I did a good job felting her hair in.   

I just love spring.... there's always something "special" going on out in the gardens!!!

Craft Show Season

We are doing far fewer shows this season, and concentrating on building up my displays at Teaberry Treasures.  My friend's little shop has been a very good thing for us and once again on October 1st I will be expanding my display. A peek at my last show display.   I've decided I don't enjoy the outdoor shows much anymore.  

 

R-A-I-N or shine!

 

The weather has wreaked havoc on the two shows.  All turned out fine, but it created a ton more work than we anticipated.  I am thankful for my diehard followers, each and every one of you.... remember you can come to the shop anytime!  This coming weekend is Deerfield, and at the end of the month we are looking forward to our trip up to Walker Homestead, then we are packing it in for awhile.   Have a great week!   I'm off to harvest the Sweet Annie!

This is just a peek at our booth at the Peddlar's Market Faire wholesale show in Sturbridge yesterday.  We has a good time and a great show overall and I want to thank each and everyone who came out to support us all...

We're staying on in Sturbridge for the Country Folk Art show this weekend, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.... a first time for everything.  Setting up in just a bit.... well, fluffing the booth, and adding other seasons to the mix!

Two Shows This Week!

yikes!   time has passed rather quickly since I've last posted.  I chose not to do any shows in June with my son's graduation in the mix, however I am doing TWO shows this week!  not sure what I was thinking.... thankfully I have helpers! 

We are leaving today for the Peddlar's Market Faire, a wholesale show in Sturbridge, MA, which runs tomorrow.  Then we are staying on for the Country Folk Art show this coming weekend, also in Sturbridge.  Thankfully both shows are indoors because it's going to be a scorcher of a week. 

When this week is done I will be working on more items for my space at Teaberry Treasures, and finishing up a bunch of cloth and clay santas started months ago!
