Time for The Big Girl Panties

This year is too much!   The shows I do and the wonderful people who come out to them are my lifeblood.
They give focus to my work and goals to achieve.  Every show I plan to the last detail so I can build a better display than the time before.   I find that level of stress works for me.  Also it’s just the right amount of distraction from things I need distracting from.  Ha!

So... yesterday I happened across the posting from Old Deerfield and not only is the Autumn show cancelled, but also the Holiday Sampler.   I’m too sad for words.   And yes, I am relieved too, because it’s safer to stay home and not be surrounded by huge crowds.

And then I checked Old Wethersfield and they had also just posted and canceled.   That was the last opportunity for  this year.   So... I will keep making, because it’s what I do.  It’s just harder creating and not having visions of awesome primitive displays swirling through my head!  I will miss my people and the hustle and bustle of the shows.... the hugs, the heartwarming response to my creations, and another job well done.   😢

Autumn Shows - Display Pics

We are home and recovering from two amazing back to back shows!

Warm thanks to all our supporters who attended.  We always enjoy your company.  I'm such a homebody and love my time spent creating, but it's nice to get out sometimes too!

I always love autumn in Deerfield and it was a nice weekend for a show!
This is just a peek.... I have several more photos on my facebook page...

Walker Homestead is the perfect setting for a prim show and once again we had a fabulous show.  The weather was picture perfect and it was nice to see everyone once again.

So now I have a few orders to complete, and some things I must find from show photos to mail out, and alas we are moving on the winter items.  I don't ever transition well with that, because the autumn handmades are so heartwarming for me.

I do have some creations planned for Deerfield Christmas Sampler and placed a fabric order this morning....   This week will be spent organizing and putting away my messes!  And a last picking expedition planned for Sunday.  So that's fun!

Our Primitive Booth at Walker Homestead

Well, it was another awesome show at Walker Homestead and we have not unpacked the vehicles yet, but already we are thinking ahead to fall, which is my favorite.   Our booth was jam packed with handmades and antiques, and we did quite well selling both.  We were both thankful to have the most picture perfect weather for the show!

I am taking a few days to find my house again.... show season is tough, oh wait.... it's always show season for us.  It's a good thing we enjoy what we do!

some of our preserved sweet annie from last fall's harvest, and Matt's tufa planters.

outside our tent with some prim patriotic dolls and juicy watermelons.

the bucket bench stuffed with goodies.   above it our new handmades booth sign.

one of the back corners, with a mix of goods.

my favorite very heavy part of the display, onion drying racks make a great backdrop.

my trusty checkout stand.

some of our signs and boxes of ornies.... I like it better without the tree.  They all sold well.

the other back shady corner.

mostly handmades, and upcycled antiques under our new bigger Sassafras sign

front corner of the tent, looking out at Paul and Lynn Rulli's beautiful work...

Thank you everyone who made the journey to Walker Homestead to spend the beautiful day with us.  We came home very tired, but feeling very blessed.

Happy May Day

I'm not sure why, but I always feel more like a spring chicken on May 1st!  I love springtime and the warmer days, and our gardens.  Tag sales have started, and Matt has brought home a few treasures to surprise me.  The first Brimfield Flea Market of the year begins May 10th and I am looking forward to it!

April was a rough month for us.  I can't believe all that happened in a month's time, but we made it to the other side!  I have come to the conclusion that I can no longer take on any special orders while caring for my mom.  My stress level is just too high already.   What you find at the shows and shops I'm in will be my only offerings, except for a little bit on my etsy page and my website.  I am so sorry for that, but I have to do what's best for my family and keep the focus on them.

After a month of almost no creating, this past week was a very productive one and I took a trip to Hidden Treasures to replenish the prim room.  Lots of my cute little raggedies, a mercantile piggy, some woolen kitties, patriotic ornies, and signs and blocks to fill it up.   It looks very nice, and I am hoping to make another trip this week.  I am so proud of Laura!   The love she has for her shop really shows!

Today's Work Table

A busy day here....

Laura said our handmade blocks have been a hit at Hidden Treasures, and today was spent working on another batch.   They will be in shop by the end of the week.  This batch was done with mother's day in mind, but will also be great any time you are thinking of your momma!  Just a peek of what's coming...

if you like her facebook page (badge on the blog sidebar) you will receive updates whenever I bring new goods in!

We've been busy getting ready for our journey.... a couple more days of packing and planning.  My boys will be holding down the fort for us, with a little help from my momma, but are not able to do my orders.... Any orders will be processed when we return.

says it all!

Hubby and I had a nice day out to visit Laura at Hidden Treasures and brought along some of our best work... You can now find our handmades in the primitive room, and scattered throughout!   If possible, try to make the journey out and visit this beautiful shop.   While you're at it, the Main Street Deli has awesome food, and there are some other nice shops within a stone's throw, literally!  And if you come to visit on a Sunday there is a fabulous indoor flea market right down the street!
