Prim Olde Timey Easter Eggs

Because so many of you asked for it, I've written the pattern for my old Easter Eggs, which I've done for the upcoming Deerfield Spring Sampler. I just love how prim they are!
The paper pattern, epattern, and finished sets may be found on my website and on Patternmart.

forced forsythia cuttings

These were cut on Groundhog Day (the 2nd) , showed signs of color after about nine days, and have been in full bloom for a few days. Definately not my favorite, but they offer a glimpse of spring, which we are all longing for. In Connecticut the majority of our snow and ice is gone, leaving a dirty muddy mess behind. Our gardens won't look nice again until things warm up and dry out.

Pantry Pig Peg Hanger

Can you say that three times fast!

I did a few of these last year for my shows and sold every one of them. I had completely forgotten about them until I discovered an unstuffed one at the bottom of my stuffing bin. I'm doing a few more to take with me to the Deerfield Spring Sampler. The completed piggie in the photo can be found on my website, as can the pattern and epattern versions.

Hawks have to eat too...

yes we all have to eat. But how very sad it was to come home this morning and discover a huge hawk in my maple tree, with one of my squirrel children hanging from his talons. I did my best to scare him off by yelling and jumping and throwing snowballs at him, but he flew away with it, rather than drop it. I'm such a sap when it comes to my critters, this will bother me for awhile.

We're due for a few warmer days and that is inspiring me to start planning my vegetable gardens. We grow most of our plants from seed.

It's been a trying week on all fronts, but I managed to list some finished items on my site and finish the robin pattern I was working on. I think he is rather handsome in his rugged prim way!

Well, have a happy weekend! Denise

Groundhog Day

Posted by Picasa
Well this is certainly not the news we were hoping for, is it? Although I'm sure it will take six weeks for all this snow to melt, and we are expecting another storm tomorrow.
I am headed outside to pick some forsythia stems for forcing, and that'll bring a touch of spring a bit sooner.
In the meantime I have been working on bunnies of all sorts, and garden angels, and flowers, which you can find on my site.
Have a happy, productive six weeks! ~Denise
